Bespoke Wedding Stationery
I really love making wedding stationery. Last weekend was the utterly joyful wedding of Gemma and Daniel, and I thought I’d share some illustrated goodies from their day. This happens to be the tenth custom wedding stationery set I’ve worked on, and each has been completely unique to the couple.
Maybe the best bit about having bespoke designs for your day, is that you can choose any theme you like. Gemma and Daniel chose the theme of royal blue and sunny yellow, which suited them perfectly! The only other important specifications were sunflowers and sharks! (Not something that you will easily find ready-made online.) Alongside some more traditional designs, I’ve previously incorporated Star Wars, Game of Thrones and Doctor Who into custom-made stationery. . . it’s always completely up to the couple, and the goal is to make it as personal to you as possible!
When I work with a couple on their stationery sets, we usually exchange emails (or meet for coffee if we are lucky enough to live close by) to figure out any themes and colour schemes. I find out details such as their wedding flowers, and anything with meaning that they want to incorporate into the design. Sometimes the theme is less obvious to people, so we incorporate their personalities, or the tone of the venue. This can be anything from fun to classy, art deco to rustic. I usually share a selection of previous designs with them, which hopefully sparks inspiration and direction.
As well as the Save the Dates and Invites, I created a range of ‘on the day’ stationery for Gemma and Daniel. This included an Order of Service, timeline of the day, table plan, menus, place names and table names. In the past I’ve also made illustrated maps of the venue, welcome signs and hand lettered vows and favours.
From gold foiling to envelope sticker seals, there are always those extra finishing touches! The longer I’ve worked on wedding stationery, the more knowledge I’ve collected about which printers I like to work with, the types of paper that I use and the extra finishes available. These little details are what elevate a design and make it feel special. I can also advise on things like the paper stock (recommending the options that look sophisticated and don’t cost the earth!) Gemma and Daniel’s stationery was printed on Rives Shetland paper, which has become my new favourite choice because of it’s affordability and beautiful, lightly textured finish.
I’m currently working on my next bespoke stationery set, and this time it’s a Cornish theme! You can see some previous custom-made designs here.
If you would be interested in anything from just the invitations to the entire day, please email me at info@clairrossiter.com for a chat and a quote. It would be so lovely to work with you. Thanks so much to Gemma and Daniel for allowing me to share some details from their gorgeous day!
